The CADCAF 2009 Christmas party went very well, with entertainment from Kirsty Lloyd of ‘Little Stars’ Disco who provided lots of fun and games for the children to enjoy. Father Christmas also made an appearance and delivered lots of lovely presents for the children to take home. There was plenty of food and festive cheer and everyone had a great time. Thank you to all who helped out in the kitchen, setting up before the party, clearing away and collecting raffle money. We can’t thank you enough for your kind help and support, it is much appreciated, especially at such a busy time of year.

Siblings visit to Paint It Yourself Pottery Shop in Cheltenham 10th April 2008
Siblings had a great time being creative, a good mix of boys and girls of age ranges 6 to 13 years old.
They created their own designs using a choice of pottery from trinket boxes, to cereal bowls.
Some really good designs ranging from football to flowers. We had lovely assistance from 2 volunteers Lucy and Amy and staff at the shop. Theywere kept very quiet and engrossed during the whole time we were there, busy painting.
Afterwards it was off to tea at Frankie and Benny's where we were all making new friends as well as seeing old friends. The kids all said how much they enjoyed their time out and it showed us how important it is to have quality time with their parent and time away from their special needs siblings.
Cinema 11th April 2008 A small group of us visited Cineworld at The Brewery Cheltenham to watch Spiderwick Chronicles. Enjoyed by most of us and good to just sit down instead of charging around! Another good quality activity to occupy us in the school break.
Longleat trip 9th April 2008
Everyone really enjoyed the day. We had 2 lovely new volunteers who were gratefully received by two families: Amy and Steve. Thanks to them for their help. We went on trains, boats, safari park, Longleat Mansion House, Maze, Pets Corner and finally staggered back to the coach happily tired after a thoroughly enjoyable day out. There are lots more pictures in the gallery
Art Session 7th April 2008
We had a visit from local Artist Celia Atkins, who talked to children and parents about colours and which colours affect our mood. E.g. Yellows make us happy, blue made us 'sleepy', green was calming, red/black was cross or angry or energetic. She showed us how we can express our feelings through painting, which gave us some useful ideas to do at home with the children on a rainy day! We played some music alongside the painting session and it was incredible watching the children being creative and responsive to the music and painting with their feelings. Some children who had never expressed any interest in painting suddenly wanted to paint and use their own version of the 'mood' colours. Alongside the art therapy, was bouncing around the soft play room, easter card making and an easter egg hunt, which was throughly enjoyed by all, by the look of their chocolate covered faces! Our grateful thanks go to Celia, Gill, Lucy and Morgan who helped the children and their parents enjoy themselves even more with their extra support. It was lovely to see many new members attending and making new friends.

Volunteer Open Day 3rd April 2008 We had a great response with people visiting us on the day. Between 10am and 12 noon, we must have chatted to 12 people and a nearly equal number have rang and requested information and forms to complete for volunteering. We are continuing to receive e-mails and phone enquiries which is brilliant. The Glos Echo have done a follow up and taken some lovely pictures of children at Battledown, so hope to see it in print soon.
