All members have the right to: - Dignity and respect. All members have the right to be treated with sympathy and compassion. We do not seek to pry into members’ private lives, but we will listen with respect if members need to share their concerns with us.
- Professional care. Carers and Families aim to meet or exceed the standards set by the local authorities and by doing so exert pressure on them to improve.
- Openness and honesty. All members are welcome to attend Management Committee meetings. We will be frank, so you know where you stand.
- Complaints. Complaints about staff should go, in the first instance, to the Chair person and if not resolved to the Management Committee. Complaints about the Management Committee, or the group in general, should be put to the Family Support Worker, to be raised at the next Management Committee meeting.
Carers and Families operates an Equal Opportunities Policy, which is central to our work.
Confidentiality All records held by Carers and Families are treated with complete confidentiality. No computer records are kept. No other organisation is informed of the personal details kept on file, with the following exceptions:
- There is evidence of child abuse
- A court has made a legal order
- The member has given written permission
Carers and Families encourages an open and honest communication between members and with employees. In order for this to happen it is important that all members, employees and volunteers respect each others confidentiality at all times. Liability Whilst we take great care to ensure the safety of the members’ children, on our premises and at our activities, we cannot accept liability for any injury or loss which may occur. Families should make their own arrangements for personal injury insurance, if they wish to do so.
